Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply for the Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships to study less commonly taught languages.  FLAS fellowships can be used for either summer or academic year study and awards are between $5,000 and $18,000 to be applied towards tuition and, if funds are available, a stipend of between $2,500 and $15,000.

KU offers FLAS-approved study abroad programs in South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. Students may also apply for a FLAS to study on approved student-initiated programs that meet FLAS requirements.  Programs are available for beginning, intermediate, and advanced language learning.

Get more information about the eligible languages, information sessions, and more by going to the KU FLAS website at flas.ku.edu.
