Money Matters: 13 KU Students Win Study Abroad Awards

Last week, we posted about about Boren Awards and the Critical Language Scholarship, which are ways to have the government pay for your study abroad. This week, we are proud to announce that 13 KU students have been awarded major scholarships to study abroad, including Boren Awards, Critical Language Scholarships, and Gilman Scholarships (which we will outline in an upcoming post). On behalf of the Office of Study Abroad we want to congratulate the following students:

  • Garvey Burrows, CLS, Studying in Tajikistan
  • Katrina Lynn, CLS, Studying in Russia
  • Sally Kagay, CLS, Studying in Tajikistan
  • Amber Norris, Gilman Scholarship, Studying in Argentina
  • Chad Buttram, Gilman Scholarship, Studying in India
  • Der Lee, Gilman Scholarship, Studying in Japan
  • Gabriel Alaniz, Gilman Scholarship, Studying in Greece
  • Kasey Hernandez, Gilman Scholarship, Studying in Taiwan
  • Lynne Yang, Gilman Scholarship, Studying in China
  • Rachel Trottier, Gilman Scholarship, Studying in the UK
  • Valencia Johnson, Gilman Scholarship, Studying in Ireland
  • Anna Balmilero, Fund for Education Abroad, Studying in South Korea

In total, these students received more than $50,000 dollars to fund their studies abroad.
